AILERONS___________

The ailerons are are simply being constructed from 2 sheets of 1/8th with with wedges and a leading edge carved from 1/2 inch sheets to support the hinges. The leading edge is slotted to receive the surface sheets and the wedges support the ends.

aileron hinges Before fitting the top sheet. I've pinned the hinges through the leading edge and secured them with super-glue. This makes sanding and any shaping a little awkward however, the pins are hidden and the ailerons are secure.

aileron fitted IMPORTANT - If you are using more than 2 hinges on control surfaces, make sure they are accurately aligned along both the wing and the control surface. Poor alignment will cause stiffness in the movement.
